Live, Love, Life !

Hello ! It's Sue here and today I'm sharing a journal page which I've done in the book that I altered for the current ePlay challenge ! You can find the details of how I altered my book here.

I started by glueing 3 pages on either side together with Matt Medium and also coating the pages with the glue to protect them from the paint. (Yes you're eyes don't deceive you they are bottles of beer!)

I then painted the pages with Gesso but I made sure some of the text could be still seen. The stencil that I wanted to use on these pages is the TCW 12 x 12 Live, Love, Life. I love this stencil ! I used Wendy Vecchi's white Embossing Paste and stencilled two flowers but making sure they had some texture.

I also used the butterfly from the stencil and I discovered that if the stencil is flipped over you can make a complete butterfly ! To create texture on the opposite page I used Masking Tape and then I started to paint, using a brush and a baby wipe.

On the flower heads I used a paint brush and painted some more embossing paste on top of the first layer of paste.

I carried on building up the layers of acrylic paint, using a baby wipe to blend the colours together. I left the flower heads and butterflies as I had other plans for them !

I needed to give the flower heads more time to dry due to the thickness of the paste so I started to stencil the words on the opposite page. I stencilled first of all with white acrylic paint as the paints that I'm using are translucent and the white paint helps them to pop !

I carried on stencilling, re-positioning the stencil after each colour. I like to use a stencil brush as you can control more effectively where the paint goes !

Now I meant to take photos of the layers of paint building up on the flowers and butterflies but the light was fading fast so I had to move things along !

I also painted the leaves and gave them a shadow with a darker green acrylic paint, again using a baby wipe to blend it. To make the hearts stand out on each flower I painted them white, then painted them a darker red.

I felt the words needed to stand off the page a litte more so I used a black pen and drew around the letters. Much better now !

I think these pages are finished, but I'll see how I feel tomorrow !
