Happy Anniversary ~ Early!

Hi Everyone!  It's Sue Lelli here and I made an anniversary card for my DH early because I just received some new products from eclectic Paperie in the mail and I was itching to try them out!  I'll just save it until our anniversary in November!  LOL!

Here's My card:

What I WANTED to do was have a starfish in the center cut out with text underneath.  It would have been easier if the Tim Holtz alterations sand and sea die cuts had been separate but the weren't. So I improvised!  I ended up stacking fat chipboard over the images I didn't want to cut out and running it through my die cut machine.  They cut out anyway but there was so much texture and color and product on my Tim Holtz distress watercolor cardstock top page that when I pieced it back together like a puzzle, you really couldn't see it!  And I got the look I wanted!

I also wanted the seahorse floating in the water surrounded by bubbles (Tim Holtz texture fades - bubbles and waves) with it's tail wrapped around a plant.  That's how they REALLY look when you dive, hiding in plants and blending in to the surroundings.  For the plant I die cut a branch from the Tim Holtz spring greenery decorative strip.   I put wet glue on it and sprinkled Tim Holtz Distress Glitter on top.  LOVE the glimmer it adds!

I LOVE this seahorse and I puposely had the word MEMORY show through.  (I wanted to remind my DH of all of the FAB memories we have together.)  The text is Tim Holtz melange tissue wrap stained with tea dye Distress ink.

Here you can see the Wendy Vecchi translucent embossing paste.  I LOVE that it dries clear and looks wet on your project!

Here you can see the Prima seaweed flower and the Prima resin shells I added.  The idea-ology word band sentiment was perfect since this IS an anniversary card and we are living the life we have imagined!  Literally!  I tied it on with idea-ology jute.

The kraft paper behind the watercolor and text layers is my new FAB Tim Holtz idea-ology resist paper.  It is so cool with a design embossed on it so when you add ink, the embossing shows through.  This one I used has mini distressed dots ~ going with the bubble theme!

And on the inside, I put a photograph of last year when we renewed our vows for our 25th anniversary.  It was a dream!  Look at the color of that water and how it is mimicked by the distress paint colors on the outside of my card.

 Process Photos:

I squished some Tim Holtz Distress Paint on to an inksenssitials craft sheet I have cut to 8x8.  (I found it's easier to have several layers of craft sheets so your entire work surface doesn't get dirty ~ just small bits!)  Then I spritzed it with a mini mister filled with water.

I swiped Tim Holtz distress watercolor card stock through the paint once,

Then twice and this is what I had.  What I LOVE about these Distress Paints is that they react to water when they are wet and you can make them move around but when they are dry, they are permanent and you can add more layers and colors without creating mud.

So:

 I added some darker Tim Holtz Distress paints and swiped again.  Then it was too dark for me so I made two rows of two lighter blue shades of Distress Paints (in colors I already used):

 

And laid the cardstock straight down on top of the paint:

Then I sprayed it again with water from the mini mister.

 

I was happy with the colors but turned it upside down so the drip lines went up.  Then I embossed it with my new Tim Holtz texture fades bubble embossing folder.  I used the Tim Holtz sanding grip block on top of it to make the bubbles look white and stand out.

Here I added Wendy Vecchi's Studio 490 translucent embossing paste through the Dina Wakely plastic canvas stencil.  This dries completely clear and made the card front look wet.  LOVE that WV translucent embossing paste AND that DW Stencil!

Say it with wood . . .

Hello eP friends, I hope you all had a fabulous Easter weekend!

It`s Tracy here today and I am so happy to be sharing a project that comes from the heart.

I am always looking for ways to create something a little bit special for a friend or family member, to let them know I appreciate them and love them for who they are.

 Sooooo if you know me then you know how much I loooove creating art on wood . . . oh yes I do indeedy  and it just happens to be the theme for this months

 e Play challenge 

be sure and check it out plus all the inspiration from the  DT and other entries here.

 My project started out as this humble chunk of wood.

 A quick pencil sketch and a new love of mine Dylusions Ink Sprayed onto my craft mat and brushed on the background . . . I love how the ink color sings.

For the skin tone I mixed a little Yellow Ochre Pan Pastel with Gesso. 

Seriously if you haven`t tried this with your PP`S then you must, once mixed it`s really creamy.

Her hair is a mixture of Black, Neutral Grey, Titanium White Pan Pastels with a littleTim Holtz Distress Ink in Walnut Stain thrown in.

 At this point I yet again got carried away, I played around adding splats, more Dylusions and a wee bit doodle doodle dooing . . . 

A few words to describe the person who will be gifted this using

Dina Wakely`s Mixed Media Stamps . . 

She is brave

She is bold

She is fierce 

in her

 love for others and will always be there for you no matter what!

Can you make out the beautiful glaze, I used a versamark ink pad then sprinkled UTEE and used a heat tool to set.

I did this 3 times for a smooth finish and she was done.

She isn`t perfect but she was created from my heart to let someone know how special they are.

A little reminder that when things are tough just how 

Fierce, Bold and Brave

 they are!!!

Hello friends!! Hope you all here in the US had a great Thanksgiving time, time for turkey sandwiches and leftover, wink, wink!!

Today I want to show a different Christmas card, I call it "CAS Mixed Media card" I had a lot of fun making this card, super flat {think about easy mailing} and easy to mass produce, if you decide to go that way, just cut out all of paper pieces and stamp your heart out!!

Here are the details:

• Make a card base from Ivory Cardstock. A2 size.
• Cut a piece of Patterned Paper from "Twelve days of Christmas" by Graphic 45, size 3.75" x 5".
• Use you Mini chicken wire reverse stencil and apply Metallic Gold and Snow cap  Dabber Acrylic Paints. Set aside to dry for a couple of minutes.(clean your stencil)
• Now, take the circle images from  "Strictly Sentiments 3" WPlus9 and stamp randomly on you patterned paper piece, here I use Broken China Distress, Barn Door Distress, Mustard Seed Distress, Olive Archival.
• Stamp sentiment in Jet Black archival.
• Spray Dylussions Melted Chocolate and Perfect Pearls Mist Sunflower Sparkle (I did it super gently and for a far distance), this will give your card a very nice shimmery look.
• Cut a strip piece, adhere it to panel and cover it with Glossy Accents, then add Clear Rock Candy Distress Glitter.
• Add score tape to your back panel and adhere it to card base, then add Glossy Accents to small circles.

eTeam Picks Challenge - Water coloring

Hello everyone, Giovana here today and I am so excited to be hosting the eTeam Picks Challenge this month. 

So my challenge for you this month is "Water coloring" easy right? {wink, wink}

I love water coloring, it's like a relax therapy for me, seriously!! So talking about a relax therapy, I inked a brand new image by Catherine Scanlon Designs "Joy".

Here are the details :

• Start with a piece of Distress Watercolor Cardstock, stamp the image with Jet Black Archival Ink, then mist the cardstock with water and start coloring it Distress Inks. I just add some ink to an acrylic block and take the ink with a pen brush.
• For the frame I used Tumbled Glass; for the flowers I used Worn Lipstick, Victorian Velvet, Barn Door; for the leaves I used Peeled Paint and Forest Moss; for the center I used Antique Linen and Vintage Photo. I set aside to let it dry.
• While image is air drying, create the background. For this mix Embossing paste and Amber Gold paint, add a stencil to card front and add the mix. Set aside to dry or you can use to heat tool. (I prefer to air dry)

• When paste/paint is dried, add a piece of blue cardstock to your card front, tie Denim twine.
• Stamp sentiment on dried image in Coffee Archival Ink, the sentiment is from Strictly Sentiment by Wplus9.
• Add image to front of card with foam adhesive.

Altered Frame with 7 Gypsies Harmony Paper Collection . . .

 Hi everyone, it`s Tracy here today and I am sooo excited to be sharing my cheap as cheese Altered Frame documenting my wedding day to Alex over 24yrs ago using the drop dead gorrrgeous papers from the

Harmony Collection by 7 Gypsies

Oh my giddy aunt I can`t begin to tell you what a joy it was to get back to my love of pretty papers!!

I adore vintage and shabby along with papers that tell a story and this collection does it all.

 I actually remembered to take a picture of the frame before I started, if you know me you might know how impatient I am to get started on a project and tend to forget . . . not this time though,yeah!

See how cheap it was . . . oh my did I get a bargain.

 The papers come in an 8x8 paper pad with 48 sheets and are double sided giving you lots of paper to play with.

All the embellishments that you are going to see are made from the papers with a little touch of Distress Ink and Embossing powders. 

See that beautiful vintage car

  ... swoooon moment ... 

You get so many of each design that you can afford to cut out the car a few times to layer it up for more dimension using foam tape cut to size.

 Like wise with the dress form . . . snip, snip, snip . . . I used the square of paper with the original dress form and then snipped it out twice more, snipping of the skirt for the top layer.

also in the papers.

Ahhhh see the teeny tiny veil . . . off cuts off ribbon found in my stash, they make me happeee!

This one holds a special meaning for me . . . my Auntie Jessie gave me this three pence on my wedding day to pop in my wedding shoe for good luck ... a sweet memory of a much loved Auntie who is no longer with us.

Ever get the feeling that these papers where made for this project, I could hardly believe it when I saw the papers with the advert for the shoe!

Oh my giddy aunt I Sooo do not do fussy cutting normally but the Mr. and Mrs was shouting out to me

cut me...cut me... So I did, lol.

This one has a story to tell and was my 2nd attempt at making it look old . . .

Okay so I`m out in my wee shed and had chopped this one to the size I needed, but I wanted it to look like it had been around for ever soooo what did I do,hmmmm?

Well, I went and found myself a lighter and fired it up, held it under the paper and swoooosh it kinda went on fire...imagine me oooh aaahing, going noooooooo, waggle, waggle..tried to throw it out the door but it was windy and blew right back in landing on the mat..sparks, sparks..arrrghhhhhhhhhhhh....oh my giddy aunt did I panic,I mean my shed is full to bursting with papers...fear not at this point I was jumping up and down when I clapped eyes on a jug of water that I had paintbrushes sitting in..woohooo...splish,splash,splosh and out it went, phew!!

Needless to say it ended up as ashes, the one above was safely done I hasten to add with my trusty heat tool.

Next, cut up some more papers and make a collage around the frame before adding a few extras . . . 

 ...amazing how after a touch of a little Walnut Stain Ink applied with a blending tool, a few Tim Holtz Remnant Rubs and a dusting of Embossing powders makes such a difference to a project!

That`s me and Alex getting ready to go on our honeymoon, I was only 19yr and Alex would be 21yr that week...oh my we thought we knew it all and we were soooo happy!
