Canvas Day!

EEEEEeeeeeeeeeeeeeekkkkkkkkkk!!  I am so so so very late! I apologize for my tardiness, but I had serious computer issues today and then I wasn't home so I didn't have pictures of my projects (we've been on vacation all week using my parent's house at the beach.  It wasn't the best weather but we had fun nonetheless!).  Ok, enough of that!  Does anyone want to see my project?

Two weeks ago my sister-in-law and oldest niece came over for a crafty, canvas day.  They had never really done mixed media work so we had a ton of fun experimenting, playing, using neat products and just being creative!  Here is the result of my day, for most of the day I hated it - it just wasn't working for me.  But like most mixed media things, if you just keep working it you can eventually come up with a masterpiece! :)

We started by making a collage background using vintage and patterned paper scraps, paint, gel medium, and Wendy Vecchi's Embossing paste.  We added lots of layers, lots of highlights and paint to bring dimension and color.  We used stencils and embossing paste to add texture - I love, love how well the doily detail came out in the paste!

Some of the girls then used their canvas to paint, or stamp on but I decided to make an "old school" SheArt girl, by cutting out paper shapes, adding paint for detail.

I added outlines with a black pen, rub-ons from Pink Paislee, some Unity Stamps from Christy Tomlinson and words from one of my vintage books.

We had such a fun day with these!! I'll even share a picture of the canvas my daughter made using one of the Prima girl stamps.

Thanks for stopping in!! Have a great weekend!

Shine Girl!

Happy Saturday eP'ers!   Today I'm sharing a new 2 page spread I recently made in my art journal but I have to give credit to our own fabulous Donna Marie because it was totally inspired by a fabulous video she posted last week, Flower Power Color Blast.  The video shows you have to create a wonderful background using gesso and ink sprays - it's really awesome!  After I watched it I sat right down and made this.

I just received this Prima girl stamp and was so excited to give her a try.  They really are such great stamps -perfect if you've been wanted to try some of your own "She Art" but don't think you can draw (you can! but you can also definitely start by using a stamp!).  The girl was stamped on book paper and then paper pieced and painted

I pretty much followed Donna Marie's video, you can even see how the gesso doesn't go all the way to the edge of the paper so there's a different in the color intensity there - love!  I used some Embossing Paste,  stencils, rubons, paint and even some old Unity stamps I had laying around.

I really loved the result, the colors make me happy and it was so fun to make!  Check out the Donna Marie's video and try it yourself!  Happy Saturday my friends!
