Happy Birthday!!

Hello friends!! Giovana here today sharing with you a fun Birthday card I made for my daughter, today is her birthday and she is turning 10!! She told me before going to bed, I will enjoy the last few minutes of being 9 until I wake up tomorrow, LOL. She is excited to be part of the two-digit age, what she hasn't figured out yet is that is going to last for long time, hehehe.

So, here are the details  for this project:

  • Your piece will look like this :)

  • Using a Mini Mister, mist your piece with water to give it a more watercolor look.

Hope you like it!!
Have a great day!!

Love Is Incredible . . .

Hello sweet friends, Tracy here today and it feels so good to be back and sharing a little of my art with you all!
The lovely Broni is the host for this months
and the theme is
Pssst you still have time to join in the fun!

I scratched my head and hummed and hawed . . . but I kept coming back to home, my boys, Alex and Rosie
{ she`s the mad wee terrier,lol }
So time to get the old book out and create a journal page!
A quick coat of Gesso followed by some Stenciling and Paste, Distress Paints & Stains with a touch of Pan Pastels thrown in and it was ready to add the details.
First up, preparing the playing cards, quick rub down with the sanding block followed by a splodge of Gesso.
They make great little houses with the addition of some prrretty scraps of paper.
Time to add some of my doodle doodle doo`s . . .
{ Just saying doodle doodle doo`s makes me happeee }
. . . and it started to look like this.
See the swirling puffs of smoke from the chimneys . . . Gesso dabbed on with my fingers.
 { The words I have had in my stash for a while, sorry but I don`t know who the manufacturer is. }
Apologies in advance . . . I got really carried away at this point and started to add more doodle doo`s, Paints, Stains, Stamps, more pretty scraps of paper, lace trim, flowers and Distress Rock Candy Glitter to the teeny tiny windows.
I had some lovely red embroidery thread, so out came the needle to add a wee touch of stitching for that homespun feel.
This page is dedicated to my family.
My boys are spreading there wings and starting to fly the nest, but one thing for is for sure . . .
wherever they may be part of my heart will always go with them!

Well that`s all from me today, I hope you enjoyed having a look inside my old tatty book.
Remember you still have time to get creative with playing cards!
Till next time
XOXOXO

Love doesn`t need to be perfect with Wendy Vecchi Stamps . . .

Hello everyone, it`s Tracy here today and I am sooo excited to be sharing a little project I popped together using an off cut of wood along with the most
DEEELISH set of stamps by Wendy Vecchi Studio 490 . . .
. . . aren`t they the most swoon worthy stamps you have ever seen . . .I looove them!!
I have sooo many ideas popping out my head from wedding invites, save the date . . . I could go on and on and on . . .
But I better get on with my post for now, lol!
Soooo, I started with a chunk of wood and gave it a quick once over with
Tim Holtz Picket Fence Distress Paint
before getting out my Pan Pastels to add a little touch of color.
Don`t be scared to get messy with Pan Pastels, if something doesn`t look right just keep on adding until your happy with the effect . . . I know I`m getting it when I get a tingle in my tummy, lol!
Time to ink up the stamp with an Archival ink pad and get stamping.
 Have I mentioned how much I love this stamp . . .
Soooo, next I used a combination of
Tim Holtz Distress Stains along with watercolor paints and Pan Pastels before adding a little doodling along the way.
I do like to doodle doodle doo . . .
I stamped out two of the sentiments from the stamp set, snipped it up and fixed in place.
Okay here is a wee look into my madness . . .
So, as I was sitting in my shed swooning over the stamps and trying to choose a chunk of wood out the pile
in the corner, this sentiment

LOVE doesn`t need to be perfect . . .
but what it does need to be is TRUE

picked the chunk of wood itself . . . oh yes it did, how?

Well like love, creating doesn`t have to be perfect and if you look at the wood you will see it`s all rough and it has a big old crack running down the middle and then my tummy got that tingle and that was that!!!
A quick sprinkle with clear embossing powder . . .
. . . and a little metal buckle I found down in the deep dark depths of long forgotten stash and I was done.
All that`s left to say is . . .
Thank you all very much for taking the time to look
Have a great weekend whatever you are up too
Till next time

Do what makes you happy . . .

Happy Saturday everyone!

Tracy here today, I am sooo excited to be sharing . . .

" What makes me HAPPY "

For me it has to include a lot of splatters and splodges with Paint, Ink, Sprays,
 chopped up pretty patterned papers
and a smattering of stamps!
Apologies in advance for the longish post.

Now first I have a confession to make . . . my project was going to be " 3D beach huts " but while rooting around my shed I came across some cardboard packaging and before I knew what I was doing I had grabbed a pallete knife, cracked open the gesso and splattered it all over . . .
lovely lumpy bumpy texture!
Now being an impatient kind of girl . . . I grabbed my heat tool to speed the drying up, I love how it bubbles up and adds more texture.
Still thinking along the lines of beach huts at this point, a little snipping and chopping up of pretty papers by Fancy Pants - Down By The Shore Papers  along with some old book pages was required . . . sticking in place with Multi- Medium
Did I mention how I love to splodge and splatter?
I already started to outline and scribble here with a fine black liner pen but it did get lost along the way with more paint, inks and sprays added!
Okay another confession, at this point I had NO IDEA what so ever about what I was going to do next and went into a frenzy of paper cutting, inking, adding more paint, background stamps, stickers, washi tape . . . on and on until I ended up with this. . . little rickety shabby beach houses and seeing as I live in Scotland ... we do need chimneys to keep us warm, lol.
The frenzy would be like a You Tube video on fast forward!
Still Iwasn`t finished . . .
Some sentiments from Donna Downey`s  Art and Possibility stamp set, chopped up and fixed in place with Glossy Accents and the the raffia . . .well you can imagine the mess I had created by this time and while moving things around the raffia fell ontop . . . kinda liked it, so spread more out and fixed in place using a hot glue gun.
Here are a few close ups . . . can you see I added more of the papers for a door, a heart and to stamp the sentiments on.You can see more of the splattered colours here and lots of scribbles along the way.
Washi tape for chimneys and random alpha stickers for the smoke whirling out.
I didn`t like the reddish roof this one had so I added another roof from a book page and blended it in.
Ooops forgot to mention that I have the Pan Pastels mixed media 1 set, I used the Black, Titanium White,
Permanent Red and the Turquoise from the set.
The finishing touch was to take a clear embossing pad, randomly apply, sprinkle with Utee and heat.
It hasn`t really shown up in the pictures but it sure does add another texture.
So now you know what makes me happy ... inky, painty splattered hands, lol.
I hope you aren`t too disapointed at not seeing any 3D Beach huts, but instead my Scottish Shabby ones.
Take a little time and do what makes you HAPPY this weekend.
Till next time

Come Sail away with me . . .

 Woohooo it`s Friday!
It`s Tracy here today and I am soooo excited to be sharing my first ever sail boat with you all, inspired by the
Not to mention the very talented
Ann Wood who`s Paper Mache boats are amazing!
Sooo how did I get started?
I popped along to Ann`s blog, read the tutorial, downloaded the template, cut it out from an old cereal box and fixed it together with tape before getting messy with a mixture of pva glue, water and old book pages to make my paper mache boat base.
I left it to dry out overnight in a warm room before getting all inky with
Tim Holtz Distress Stains in Broken China & Fired Brick.
Distress Stains are brilliant if you still want your background to show through like I did.
I wanted a little fancy on my boat and added trim with my hot glue gun.
At this point I needed a mast, I used a bamboo skewer and fixed it in place with my ever ready hot glue gun.
Next it was time to turn my attention to making a sail, I made my base from card.
Adding Down By The Shore papers by Fancy Pants to the front and back with a glue stick.
I have to tell you I am in loooove with this collection!!!
A little close up so you can see my " mad " faux stitches using a black fine liner pen and then some real stitching to attach the sail to the yard - I used a bamboo stick for the yard, stitching it in place with string and an embroidery needle.
Another looove of mine at the moment is the sentiment stamps from
Sooo . . . I just had to have them on my little boat all stamped and chopped up.
What makes me happy?
Creating art makes me happy,so another sentiment was stamped on the other side of the sail.
Time to fix the yard to the mast, I used string at the top to hold them both securely together.
Next up, to stop the sail from moving I stitched buttons on to the boat,I used an embroidery needle to add a few inches of string to the bottom of the sails and then wrapped the string around the buttons.
Ooops I almost forgot that to let the boat hang you have to add a little string to the top of the mast securely to finish.
I hope you like my little boat and that it might inspire you to have a go!
It`s been a pleasure sharing with you all.
Till next time
Hugs
