Bonnie here, wishing you a wonderful Friday. I love, love, love creating with Graphic 45 paper collections. They are so beautiful and offer many opportunities to fussy cut and layer images. That's why I was so excited to have my 8x8 paper pad, A Ladies' Diary Collection, arrive in the mail. I had this fun little 7 Gypsies Shadowbox calling out for some vintage goodness. The box is roughly 6.5 x 6.5" and I purchased mine in the black colour.
I rarely have a full fledged idea of what I'm going to do when I begin a project. I do, however, usually have a couple of images or items that I want to include and I build from there. In this case, it was the lovely fussy cut woman from the Fashion Plates page and the Wendy Vecchi art parts pocket watch. Knowing that the pocket watch would contain an image and likely flowers, I choose a neutral background which I found in the Moment in Time page with all of the diary entries. It was cut to fit the large rectangle, inked around the edges with Vintage Photo Distress ink and adhered to the box using Scor tape. The Lasting Impressions page with all of the borders was cut into separate strips. The women's hats border and the lace were added to the bottom of the large rectangle. The clocks and roses border became the top treatment, the Standard Fashions strip became part of the bottom right square, and the Style is... sentiment was attached to the wood separating the top and bottom cubbies. It was given a hand charm to draw attention to the sentiment. That's a lot of mileage out of one 8x8 sheet. Love it!
The watch art parts were sprayed with Silver Foil Smooch Spritz and then scuffed with Black Soot Distress ink. The illustration was cut slightly bigger than the face opening,sandwiched between the two layers, and then filled with Glossy Accents. Once dry, a key charm, mulberry flowers, and a silver heart button were adhered to the watch. One of the small journalling spots from that same border page was cut out, distressed, and inked with Vintage Photo DI before the sentiment, "live inspired" from Donna Downey's Empowered Words collection was stamped with Memento Rich Cocoa ink. It was adhered behind the watch and then the art part was adhered to the background. A silver ball chain (stolen from my husband's workshop...don't tell) was glued with Glossy Accents. To fill in the space below the watch and repeat the embellie on her hat, a black feather was glued under the pocket watch. The fussy cut lady was given a silver purse.
The bottom three cubbies were created with scraps from pages already used. With the paper being double sided, there are many beautiful coordinating patterns. The left cubby has one of the stamps fussy cut from the paper and an Idea-ology pen nib was Glossy accented over faux stitched striped paper. The middle section has two layers of paper separated by black cardstock. A woman's head was fussy cut and popped up on foam dots. A black parasol charm was added to her background.
The right cubby was given a punched background layered with a border piece. The image of the lady in the wicker chair was fussy cut, matted in black, and adhered with foam dots. The 1912 date came from the same paper.
I love this little project and the best part is I still have most of the paper pad intact. There are so many images on each page and the backs are equally lovely so these pads last a good long time. That makes me happy because Ihave many more projects percolating in my little head :) Thanks for visiting today. We always appreciate that and your lovely comments.
