Happy Friday the 13th!

It started a several years ago when my oldest daughter asked about "Friday the 13th." "What's the big deal?" she asked. So, we answered by creating a "Friday the 13th" family tradition. At the Sparks house, we now have a monthly family tradition on the 13th day of each month. My family knows that we have "breakfast for dinner" when it's the 13th of each month. When the 13th actually falls on a Friday, then we go out to "breakfast for dinner" to either IHOP or Denny's...make it extra special. It's our one day a month where we all know for sure that we will get to eat together and we know what is planned for dinner. It's quick, easy so the kids can help cook and yummy, too.

Speaking of cooking, I thought I would share this card design by our friend, Pam Hooten. The stamp set is a new Crafty Secrets release called, Little Chef.

Be creative and fun when coming up with some special family traditions for your particular clan. It's some of these little things that your kids grow up to remember.

Do you have a quirky family tradition to share? Share your "not-so-traditional" family tradition and we'll draw an entry at random. Random winner will win the Little Chef Crafty Secrets stamp set plus some other surprises. Winner will be announced on Father's Day, June 15th.

Have a great weekend!

What a FUN tradition Daisy!
When our kids were little, we'd have special picnic dates. We'd pack sandwiches and head to the park. A wonderful memory that I hadn't thought about for a long time! Thanks Daisy!!!

We always have an extreme croquet game on Thanksgiving ... even if there is snow on the ground.

the croquet comment reminded me that we do a MAJOR croquet tournament on 4th of July - I better work on my skills - I missed it last year! Don't know if that us unusual though - but we sure like it...

poOur family celebrates all major holidays by getting together at one of our houses for a big cook out and swimming just a day to be with my sisters and mom since my dad passed away last year. Lots of memories. Susan

I am afraid we don't have any special rituals in our family. We kind of poke fun at the old superstitions like don't walk under a ladder or break a mirror. We were pretty busy so not much time for any unusual celebration. It is neat that you have those fun traditions going on with your family.
