U Da Man!

Congratulations to SMILYNSTEF who wins the Crafty Secrets Lil' Chef stamp set. She shared her quirky and fun "family tradition": We always have an extreme croquet game on Thanksgiving ... even if there is snow on the ground. How fun is that and what great memories for your family.

Here's an oldie but masculine card I pulled out of my Stampin' Up! archive. I love that little frog.

Hope you all had a great father's day weekend. Summer is here!

Have a great day!

Happy Friday the 13th!

It started a several years ago when my oldest daughter asked about "Friday the 13th." "What's the big deal?" she asked. So, we answered by creating a "Friday the 13th" family tradition. At the Sparks house, we now have a monthly family tradition on the 13th day of each month. My family knows that we have "breakfast for dinner" when it's the 13th of each month. When the 13th actually falls on a Friday, then we go out to "breakfast for dinner" to either IHOP or Denny's...make it extra special. It's our one day a month where we all know for sure that we will get to eat together and we know what is planned for dinner. It's quick, easy so the kids can help cook and yummy, too.

Speaking of cooking, I thought I would share this card design by our friend, Pam Hooten. The stamp set is a new Crafty Secrets release called, Little Chef.

Be creative and fun when coming up with some special family traditions for your particular clan. It's some of these little things that your kids grow up to remember.

Do you have a quirky family tradition to share? Share your "not-so-traditional" family tradition and we'll draw an entry at random. Random winner will win the Little Chef Crafty Secrets stamp set plus some other surprises. Winner will be announced on Father's Day, June 15th.

Have a great weekend!

Feed Your Creativity!

Sorry it's been way too long since my last post. So, here I am trying to make up with a fun entry that really "Feeds Your Creativity".

My friend, Flo, owns and operates an online store(myediblecreations.com) that sells handmade jams and jellies. They are oh-so-yummy. Flo and I were talking about how her jams and jellies would make great gifts this time of year for dads, teachers and hostess gifts for those summer picnics and parties. We talked about how to package the cute jelly jars for these different occasions so here is what we came up with.

This first set of photos is the small jelly jar that fit perfectly into the Acrylic Paint Cans. How cute is this to give as a hostess gift or a thank you gift for a teacher or special
friend.

I used the Doodlebug Paper frills to wrap around the paint can. I also reached for the new KaiserCraft embellisments. These flowers have no middle piece so you get to choose how to fill the empty flower center...do you want pearl or rhinestones. Love that option!

Next came another idea that we thought would be fun to take as a hostess gift for those Memorial Day invites you receive or any other picnic and/or party this summer. Jams and jellies won't melt in the heat. They are yummy poured over a brick of cream cheese and then spread onto your favorite crackers. The jams and jellies could also serve as a fun Father's Day gift. I used the round coasters to create a secure bottom for the cello wrap. I painted the coaster withe Ranger Crackle Paint and ran some Distress Ink over the paint for a little masculine feel. I also choose the Changito BBQ stamp and used the Copic Markers to color in the image.

Finally, we talked about how these jelly jars could be a very unique and fun alternative to those traditional wedding favors. Flo wrapped it up in tulle and I reached for the CuttleBug Textile Hearts to create a simple and elegant tag for the jelly wrapped creation.

I love the Cuttlebug Combo. Think of it as a 2-step process. You have the die to cut the shape; then you have the coordinating embossing folder to add texture to the shape. I started with the Cryogen Poison Ivory cardstock. The shimmer and color of this cardstock is appropriate for any wedding project. After cutting and embossing , I used some VersaMagic Dew Drop ino to rub on top of the scroll design for even more dimension.

Check out Flo's jams and jellies at myediblecreations.com There are lots of flavors to choose from. eclectic Paperie has a variety of Cuttlebug Combo designs so come visit and look around.

Have a great weekend!

New Lizzie Anne Designs Stamps

We were very excited to visit the Lizzie Anne Design booth at CHA back in February. They had some gorgeous samples from their talented Design Team members displayed in their booth. The creative cards and projects really give you an idea as to the whimsical designs of the Lizzie Anne Design stamps. They will inspire you to get out your favorite coloring tools and create some special cards and paper crafts for special people in your lives.

These stamps are red unmounted rubber. They come in clear CD cases. If you've been wanting to try unmounted stamps but love the red rubber, than Lizzie Anne Design stamps are the way to try the unmounted stamp rage. The images are diverse in choice and very detailed.

eclectic Paperie just received some of the new Lizzie Anne Stamp Designs stamps - stamp sets and Simply Singles, too. I am sure you will find one(or maybe two, or three, or more) that you will have to have.

I kindly asked if I could take photos to share on the eP blog. Here are more projects from the Lizzie Anne Designs booth from Winter CHA(Feb 2008):
