Indecision

Good morning, it's Mary-Ann!  I would like to share a colorful layout with you.  

Indecision is a common occurrence in our house.  My son has acquired this attribute from his father.  It takes them both FOREVER to make a decision.  I can not remember how long we stood in this aisle at Wal-Mart.  I may have blocked it from my memory.  I, on the other hand, do things on impulse.  The quicker the better.  

I just love how this photo captures my son intently researching this Nerf gun.  The colors in the Echo Park papers worked perfectly to bring my rather dark, semi-blurry photo to life.  

I decided that papers from both "Scoot" and "All About A Boy" from Echo Park would help liven up my photo and they both work together really well.  Then I decided to try using Prima's Donna Downey 12x12 Art Stencil.  

CONFESSION:  This is my first attempt as using any type of Art Stencil or Mask.  I dug out my old colored ink pads (Tim Holtz distress stains would work perfectly!) and gave it a whirl!  I actually loved how it came out!

Once my attempt at masking was complete, I layered papers, stickers and chipboard.  At the end, I added some machine stitching, a Flair button and Studio Calico Wood Veneers for detail.

Celebrate the Moments of your Life...

It's Week Three of my Guest designing duties for the Eclectic Paperie and when I opened the goodie box that Kim sent me, I knew that I would make something special with the Echo Park For the Record 2 paper pad! I used one of the fabulous Die D'Lites from Spellbinders Paper Arts™ called Garden Weave for some filigree work on top of my paper. I finished the card with a pretty silk bow and a Wendy Vecchi - Blossom Bucket Polka Dot Butterfly.

Happy {Heart} Day!

Good morning!! Julie here and I've got a little lovey card for you that I made for the new  Mix-Ability Challenge at SCS from last week.  The challenge was Emboss Resist which I haven't done in forever!

I'm calling this my "dirty chalkboard" card - lol!  First, I stamped and embossed (with white ep) the images and sentiments using Cupid's Arrow from Wplus9 on black cardstock.  Then I used Picket Fence Distress Stain and swiped it all over my card to make it appear that the chalkboard was really chalky - you know, like those cheaper kinds of  blackboards that you can never seem to get clean?! :)  Then I heavily sprayed the whole thing with Light Pink Glimmer Mist which you can see better in the close-up photo.

I also used the emboss resist technique to make the "frame" - embossing a woodgrain pattern on kraft cardstock with clear embossing powder and then going over it with a sponge applicator and Distressed Walnut Ink.  The rest of the card was kept pretty simple.  I used pretty paper from the Love Story pad by Echo Park.  While I was in the embossing mode I embossed a chipboard heart several times with red ep, edged it with some antique lace and added a Rhinestone.

Completely In Love

Hey there!  I pulled out some new Wplus9 Design Studio stamps and dies from eclectic Paperie earlier this week to create this sweet Valentine!  The stamps are the new Cupid’s Arrow set, and I also used the matching companion die to cut out the cupid on the upper left.  I saw this sample card made by W+9 design team member Jean Martin, and loved how she cut out the little banner at the bottom of the sentiment so it still fit the die-cut heart, so I stole her idea!  :)  I also added a little border at the bottom using the XO Border die… I just think that thing is SO cute!  The papers I used are Echo Park “Love Story”, and my pink ink is Ranger Picked Raspberry distress ink.  The large die cut hearts are from Spellbinders.

Guest Designer Post - Happiness

Hi, my name is Godelieve Tijskens, also known as Stampingmathilda, living in Belgium.  I'm happy to be asked as guest designer for January here on eclectic Paperie.  Thanks Kim!

Today I made two cards, using Hero Arts stamps and Echo Park papers from the package Kim has sent me.

 The first card was stamped with Brilliance Ink #Graphite Black and colored with Distress Ink and a damp brush.

 I stitched around the image and added layered buttons.

 Gingham paper is from the Winter Wishes paper pad by Echo Park.

 For my second card I used the small stamps from the Pocket Watch set to stamp a collage background with Memento ink on another sheet from the paper pad.

 I stamped the sentiment on a strip of the same paper, machine stitched it onto the background.  I added a Basic Grey button to the other end of the strip.

I also cut a heart.  I distressed the edges and embossed the heart using one of my good old embossingfolders.

I stamped another butterfly from the set, cut it out and glued it onto the embossed heart.

For my project I chose to create the coffee mug gift package.  Isn't it the cutest thing ever?!  I started by following the directions in the lastest Technique Junkie Newsletter.  The directions were so easy to follow and assembling the mug was super easy!  Full color photos and step-by-step instructions are included for every project.

I used Winter Wishes design paper from Echo Park (love that purple) on both the mug and the card and the Snowflake Flourish stamp set from Sweet 'n Sassy. 

To create the center piece on the mug, I broke out the brand new Mini Snowflake Rosette die from Tim.  I first swiped Milled Lavendar across my cardstock and then stamped the snowflake in Seedless Preserves.  Once my snowflake was cut out, I assembled it and added it to the front of the mug.  Cute, right?

Quick & Easy Cameo Love

Hi, everyone!  Broni here, and today I have a quick & easy card that really doesn't look quick & easy!  I used the Sweet Victoria stamp set from Sweet Stamp Shop.  It's perfect for this type of card!

I stamped my flower outlines in Distress inks on some watercolor paper.  Then I took my water brush and colored them in, using some extra ink that I had smashed onto my craft sheet.  No need to be neat....just slap on the ink!

Next I stamped the leaves in some Shabby Shutters ink, then I spritzed the whole thing with water using a mini-mister.


I dried it with my heat tool, rounded the right edges of it and all my other layers.  I stamped the silhouette in Memento Gray Flannel ink, cut it out and popped it up on Scotch foam mounting tape.  Then I stamped the sentiment in the same Gray Flannel and tied the ribbon on.  I attached all the layers together and I was done!

Wow!  It took me just as long to put this post together as it did to make the card!

Make Art Love

Hi, everyone, Barbara here with a little project I did for the recent Make Art Blog Hop here at eclectic Paperie. I was giddy with excitement when I received the Wendy Vecchi - Studio 490 - Art Parts Hearts Love & Stars to play work with. You might have figured out that I love to alter stuff for home décor items so this was right up my alley! When thinking about what I was going to do, Valentine’s Day came immediately to mind, since there were hearts and LOVE involved. But I didn’t want to do Valentine’s Day. I thought about Christmas. Almost did something with that. But, in the end, I decided to do something that I can use year ‘round in my home—it will hang on a cup rack under a shelf on my newly painted yellow dining room wall. We don’t have to have an occasion for LOVE, right? It’s there all the time and *I* love how this little wall hanging expresses that constantly—every time I look at it. I’m simply in love with it :)

OK, I started by covering my larger heart with Kraft corrugated paper. To do that, I simply applied my adhesive to the heart and slapped it down on the back side of the paper. Then I trimmed around the heart with a craft knife and sanded the edges with my Idea-ology Sanding Grip Block. 

Next, using my Adirondack Paint Dabber – Aqua, I put a coat of paint just on the tops of the corrugation so I’d have some contrast. Then I went around the edges with my Adirondack Paint Dabber – Pool. Just a little darker shade for more contrast, then I sponged the edges with Vintage Photo Distress Ink and my Inkssentials Foam Blending Tool. Here’s a closer look at that.


You can also see that I used some bling—LOVE vintage/distress mated with bling. Love. It. This is a Prima Doodle Deux Swirl and I used the whole thing ;-) I cut it up in pieces and sorta just filled in where I needed pieces to cover the large heart.

On to the smaller heart. I covered it in the same manner as I did the large heart, but this time I used Echo Park - For the Record (Documented) paper. I sanded the edges and sponged them with distress ink, as well. Before I adhered it to the larger heart, I tied around some vintaged-up seam binding, embellished with one of these  Maya Road Trinket Pins - Vintage Pearl.

Then I adhered the small heart with hot glue and went about embellishing it. I painted the LOVE sentiment with a Adirondack Paint Dabber – Pitch Black and popped it up on Scotch Foam Mounting Tape, cut into little strips. I didn’t take a picture of it, but here’s a little hint: if your foam will show, color it with a marker to make it blend in to either the background or the popped up element. In this case, I colored the visible edges of the foam with a black Copic marker.


I finished my project off with a die-cut flower and a wire handle—perfectly embellished with a button from the Buttons Galore and More Ice Collection.

Hey Y'all!!!

Tenia Nelson from Jazzy Paper Designs with y'all today. I created a card for y'all and it goes a lil somethin' like this.....CHECK IT!!!

I created this card using the Echo Park Everyday Eclectic Papers and the Sweet Stamp Shop Sweet Tooth stamp set which you can buy at the eP Store!!! Here are the directions on how to make this card:

1. Create card from Black cardstock.
2. Distress and adhere Black and White DP to card.
3. Distress, stamp sentiment and adhere Light Green DP to card.
4. Adhere Black and White ribbon to card.
5. Using a circle punch punch out a circle and adhere to ribbon panel.
6. Stamp image, cut out and adhere to circle panel.

Every Accomplishment...

Hi everyone...It's Shannon Sawyer and I'm so excited to be joining Kim and the eP team for the month of October! 

This ATC is my first little sample/project that I have to share with you and below are the details about how I created it and the products I used....Enjoy!

I have to admit, it's been awhile since I've made an ATC and I had a lot of fun doing it, I forgot how much fun they can be. To make this ATC I used the following products from eP:

6x6 Paper Pad from Echo Park "For the Record 2" - I cut the little doilies out to put around the inner border of the ATC.

Ranger Inkssentials Natural Sticky Back Canvas ATC size

Claudine Hellmuth Studio Mini Acrylic Paint Sets in Urban, Contemporary & Metropolitan (I just had to get all three. They are wonderful! The size is great and the colors are so vibrant.) This is what I used to paint the background of the ATC on the sticky back canvas. I put a dab of each color on the ATC and then I used an old credit card to run it across the entire ATC.

Claudine Hellmuth Studio Gesso in both the White and the Black. As you can see, I used these two Gesso colors to do the border around the ATC.

Wendy Vecchi Studio 490 Stamp Set "A Form of Art". This is the set I used to stamp the sentiment on the ATC and I just used a regular black felt tip pen to draw different sized dots on top of the painted colors on the ATC.

Wish Big

Hi, all, Barbara  here and I have a sorta CAS card for you today. It was super easy to make—always a plus when you’re rushed for time. I’m using some awesome neutral patterned paper from Echo Park’s So Happy Together—this wood grain pattern is a great backdrop for lots of things. Then I adhered some strips of THIS Washi tape from My Mind’s eye. It looks kinda purplish on my monitor but it’s very pink IRL :) Then I stamped the sentiment with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and added a strip of Graphic 45 Trim Staples crocheted lace with some sweet ribbon woven through and tied in a bow, adhered with my awesome Dot N’ Go – Mini Glue Dots.

Back to School

Good Saturday morning to you all!  It's Broni here and today I have a scrappy little card to celebrate "Back to School".  It's definitely in full swing now and I decided to make a card to celebrate!

I stamped my little book bag and star on white cardstock using Memento tuxedo black ink, colored them with my Copic markers, and cut them out.  I used my new WPlus9 Pinking Squares die to cut the Everyday Eclectic patterned paper (Echo Park) for the panel behind the book bag.  The Pink Sorbet and Peapod twines are tied through the eyelet of the Mini Tag Canvas Piece which was painted with a Juniper Adirondack Acrylic paint dabber.

The other layers were cut with either Spellbinders dies or my pinking shears, and the letters and numbers were stamped using the new Ranger Distress Summer Seasonal inks.  I LOVE these colors!  I also added some paper tape and a cute little Kiwi Fruit button, and I stitched around the large white layer before adding all my pieces using either Scor-Tape or Scotch foam mounting tape.
