ePlay Embossing Challenge ~ hello friend

Hi, it's Sue Lelli here today to show you a card I made using my FAV Wendy Vecchi Studio 490 embossing pastes!

 

WARNING ~ LOTS of photos!

This is my first card.  The base is TH Distress Watercolor Cardstock.  LOVE this product!  It's heavyweight paper card sized and great for any product you put on it, holding up incredibly well to all the paints and waters and gel medium and embossing pastes I used.  Did I say LOVE?!!!

Here is a close up so you can see the leaves stenciled with Wendy Vecchi's Translucent embossing paste and painted with Dina Wakely's heavy body paint and TH Distress paint.  The flower is from Prima's Seashore Collection.  I ripped the top layers of the flower off and added that Beautiful face from Prima's Cartographer Collection.  I thought she looked pretty with the ADORNit wood frame and the hello friend sentiment which is a Tim Holtz Remnant Rub.  It fit perfectly on the frame.

 

Then I HAD to do it!  When I first started thinking about this card, I had green and pink in mind but the creative process took me elsewhere.  So I took the cream flower off and added this Beautiful Prima flower with some green highlights!

I not sure which one I like the best!  Do YOU have a FAV?

In this close up you can see the gold speckles I added with the Prima Floral Rose stencil and Metallic Gold Wendy Vecchi Studio 490 Embossing Paste.  I could use these two on everything I make!

 

Now for some process and product info:

Tim Holtz Distress Watercolor Cardstock with Tim Holtz Melange tissue wrap ~ another FAV!

I used Dina Wakely's Gel Medium to attach the tissue.

 The two paints I used ~ TH Distress Paint in mowed lawn and Dina Wakely's Heavy Body Acryllic paint in Lime.

 

 On a piece of white paper, I made more leaves with the WV translucent embossing paste which I then painted and cut out to add to the flowers.

I outlined the leaves with a black stabilo pencil to create some definition.  The frame is from ADORNit wood shapes and the sentiment is a Tim Holtz remnant rub.  You can really see the WV metallic gold embossing paste in this photo.

Birthday Triptych with Stencils and Paints and so much more!

Hi Everyone!  It's Sue L. here today to show you a Birthday Triptych I made with three plain chipboard coasters:

This is the inside with all three coasters open.

This is the triptych all folded up and how I will put it in the envelope.

Left side closed - I made the leaves match the inside third coaster.

Left side open, right side closed - again I made the flower match.

Then I started adding Tim Holtz Remnant Rubs Life Quotes

I used more remnant rubs on the front cover - hello friend, enjoy today, best day ever, and her birthdate.  You can also see the TCW Mini Specimen stencil with Wendy Vecchi's Studio 490 metallic gold embossing paste - LOVE! and the TCW Chevron Tile Stencil I applied WV Studio 490 white embossing paste through and painted with Silks Acryllic Glaze Sky Blue.  I wanted it to look like book binding.  I made holes and tied it all together with seam binding that matched the inside art.

As much as I hated to because I hate my handwriting, I signed it for my friend with a Fude Ball Black pen.

 

Process photos:

I free hand drew a flower and leaves with a pencil.  I am no artist!  But this shows that YOU, too, can do this!  I went back in and erased the lines I didn't want.  NOTE:  These lines are just a guide and don't have to be perfect.

I closed the left coaster so I could match the leaves.

 

I closed the left coaster and matched the flower.

This is what the back looks like.

I painted the left with Tim Holtz Distress Paints, ( I own ALL of the colors!), Silks Acryllic Glazes, and added Inka-Gold for shine.  Everything was outlined with Adirondack Pitch Black paint.  On the right, I played with Gelatos just to see what they looked like on the coaster.

This shows how I scribbled the gelatos on and what happened when I added water with a wet brush.

Here I painted the leaves and BG with Tim Holtz Distress paint and then went over it with Silks Acryllic Glaze for a Beautiful shine!

This shows the TCW Chevron Stencil with WV white embossing paste.  When it dried, I went over it with Sky Blue Silks Acryllic Glaze.

In this last photo, you can see the butterflies and how pretty the specimens look in gold!

 

Well that's it!  I hope you like it!  My friend is going to swoon because she will KNOW how much time and Love I put into this triptych for her!  Sure beats my usual Birthday Card!

Note to self~Life is Good!

Hi Everyone!  Sue Lelli here today.  The ePlay Wood Challenge is still going on (you have until April 30th to link up!) so I decided to alter a wooden heart I bought on a recent vacation.  This is how it ended up:

 

 I call it ~ note to self-life is good!

All of the words are Tim Holtz Remnant rub-ons called Life Quotes.  The circles were made using Wendy Vecchi's Studio 490 Translucent Embossing Paste and the TCW Coffee Splotch stencil.  I thought the joined circles grounded the two sentiment rub ons.

All of the metal doo-dads and buttons and gears are trinkets I keep in a drawer and mix and match when I collage.  Some are Prima, some are Idea-ology, and others are just stuff.  In this photo, you can also see the dots I made inside the circle with Art Anthology Dimensional Crystal in peony.

I painted the metal parts after they were all glued on and dry with white gesso for a base so the paint would adhere.  Then I alternated layers of TH Distress paints in shades of pinks, and Silk Acryllic Glaze in Rasperry Wine and Gold. 

On the left you can see the gold embossing paste I added with the TCW Mini Texturized 6x6 stencil.  I felt I needed some gold on the left, middel and bottom of the heart to balance out the gold Silk paint on the collage down the right.

Here you can see the additional rub-on sentiments from the same TH Remnant rub-on collection.  Note ~  I didn't sand the words on the metal elements because I wanted the

"note to self- life is good" to really stand out.

Here is what the heart looked like when I purchased it.

But I couldn't leave well enough alone!

I covered it with white gesso and added streaks of TH Distress Paint in pink shades.  I spritzed it with water and let it streak down the heart.

I kept adding more and spritzing with water until it looked how I wanted it to.

 

On the back, the artist who carved and painted the heart, carved his name in it.  I added the gold barcaode with WV gold embossing paste and the WV barcode stencil.  LOVE!

 Here it is, hanging on my art wall in my craft room.

 

Sorry there are no more process photos.  Once I started collaging and painting, I forgot all about photos!  YIKES!

Love Christmas Angel

Hello!! Giovana here with my very first post as an ep Design Team Member!! I am so very excited and I hope you like the project I have for you today. The wonderful ladies have been posting Halloween projects, so I decided to make a Christmas card this time around ;) Maybe you can start your Christmas projects using this wonderful image.
So, I prepared a picture tutorial for you, so, let's get started:

Step 1: Stamp Christmas Angel image on a piece of Ivory Cardstock in Gold Ink.

Step 2: Die-cut a Watercolor Cardstock piece using Rectangle dies.

Step 3: Paint all sides of Watercolor paper with Viva Décor Amber Gold Paint. Love the antique look you get.

Step 4: Cut another piece of Watercolor cardstock (dimensions: 5" x 3.75"), position the Mini Chicken wire reverse stencil, add Viva Colour 3D Stamp Paint Gold

Step 5: Cut "Love" rub-on from Remmant Rubs idea-ology and adhere it to panel.

Step 6: Ink all edges of your panel with Walnut stain Distress Ink.

Step 7:  Mount image on die-cut gold piece (step 3) Tie-on ribbon and add panel to card base. Add image to card. Make a triple bow, add hemp and a Trinket pin.

This is the final shot.

Collector Of Memories - Tim Holtz Locket Book

Helloooo everyone, it`s Tracy here today to share a childhood memory using a

Tim Holtz Idea ology Locket Book

 Oh my giddy aunt when this arrived in the post I swooned and knew that something truly special had to be nestled inside . . . 

what better, than a cherished memory of my much loved and greatly missed Gran along with a picture or two.

This is how it looked before I went to town to make the accordion book shabby and aged . . .

If you know me then you will know I love to make items old and distressed . . .

 sooooo time to get messy!

First up a quick coat of Vintage Photo Distress Stain, followed by Walnut Stain Distress Stain...

...a touch of Black Soot Distress Ink Pad with a blending tool, splidge splodge with a little water and a blast with the heat tool to age it even more to get it looking like this!

I forgot to mention the distressing around all the edges with my trusty scissors.

Time to embellish...

So my background was how I like it, but too dark to show up the beautiful

A quick dab of Picket Fence Distress Paints and then the rub on worked a treat and still looks aged.

 A touch of clear embossing powder to make it more durable, plus another texture.
Ohhhh, do you see the yummy tissue tape up above . . .loooove!

Going on an outing to the Glen with my Gran and Mum required my sister and I to wear our shiny black patent shoes, even yet seeing patent shoes takes me right back through the years to happy times!
See that film reel over the pic  . . . it`s a rub on.

 I chopped pictures up to tell a story and the one on the left is my Grans feet and our shadows, sitting on a bench either with candy floss or ice cream . . . a day out needs yummy delights.

 Mum was always the picture taker!

Gran passed away when I was very young but boy do I have a zillion memories of happy times and she will live on in my heart forever!

such a dream to apply and my go to craft item now.

Who would have thought that something so small could hold so much?
A little Distress stained bit of fabric, some chains, a tag and beautiful key to add the finishing touches to what is now a treasured keepsake.

 Why a key?
The key is the lock that will always keep Gran close to my heart, the red fabric for the love that I have for her
yesterday, today, tomorrow.
Whew, well all that`s left to say is
