Hi everyone, it's Lisa S here as eP's April guest designer and this week I had fun playing with the Dylusions Art Journal. I'm eager to start art journaling in it but first I wanted to alter the cover. As you'll see I took my color inspiration from the colors you see above on the packaging. Don't know whether it was a subliminal message from Dyan or not but I went with it. :)
The first thing I did was to brush on a coat of black gesso and grab Wendy Vecchi's white embossing paste. Then I grabbed several Dylusions stencils and started to play.
At this point I've used Dylusions Chequered Dots, Leaf Flourish and Dotted Flowers stencils plus Tim Holtz's Latticework layering stencil.
I sprayed Dylusions Bubblegum Pink on my craft mat and applied with a sponge to the flower and randomly on the cover. Then I started playing with the other colors-fresh lime, calypso teal, crushed grape, lemon zest and pure sunshine.
To me, this looks like stained glass. Love this stencil!
This Donna Downey stamp is from a set called Art and Possibility by Unity and I used Wendy Vecchi's Archival Forget-Me-Not ink. The metal frame was in my stash and I simply altered it with a black Faber-Castell Pitt Pen by inking the edges then rubbing the color in with my finger. To protect the paper I added a coat of Ranger's Glossy Accents.
A dragonfly wood embellishment from Prima's Stationer's Desk collection was altered with Distress Ink and Stickles.
On this one I used Forget-Me-Not Archival ink, turquoise Stickles and white opal Liquid Pearls.
This pretty vintage wood mini butterfly is from Maya Road and I used the same technique above to alter this one. The pretty leaf stencil is Dylusions Leaf Flourish. I added white dots with a gelly roll pen and black dots with a black Faber-Castell pen.
White fabric alpha stickers were altered with Distress Inks and Archival inks-
Tim's Ransom and Newsprint alpha's were altered with Adirondack Snow Cap and mustard seed Distress Ink.
