'I Can Sing a Rainbow.....'

Happy Saturday folks! It's Toni here to share a project with you today. Now, I have to thank my lovely teamie Andiepants for this idea. I loved the layered umbrella project she posted earlier in the week and really wanted to have a go at the 3d technique she used. Then as if by magic, this fabulous Wendy Vecchi Vintage Doily stamp arrived from Kim and I just knew I had to have a go. I started off by stamping out 12 of the circles in black Archival ink. I heat embossed each one with clear embossing powder.
In this picture you can see that the stamping on the right is more complete. I discovered that I could achieve a much fuller impression by using a mouse mat underneath the card, than by stamping on a hard surface. I fussy cut each circle, a bit tedious but worth it, and then sprayed the circles with a variety of Dylusions Inks. It's been a while since I've had these out ! Such gorgeous colours.
Following Andiepants' instructions, I folded each circle in half and began adhering them together. I used Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive, my new favourite glue. Before I joined in the last circle I adhered a length of gold piping, which I had threaded with a tassel and a re-purposed bead. I'd like to find another bead the same, to add to the top. I gave up hunting around but I'm sure I've got one somewhere! I then ran a gold leafing pen along the edges of the circles. This adds a nice little glint.
My 'rainbow mobile' looks great hanging in the window, spinning in the breeze. So, many thanks to the very creative Andiepants for sharing her project, which inspired me to have a go and that's what we're all about here at the eclectic Paperie ! Don't forget, if you fancy getting creative our Altered Bottles ePlay challenge runs until the last Thursday in the month x
