Love Life ~ layered tag

Hi ePers. It's Bonnie back again today...this time with a mixed media tag that I layered up. Once again I had no idea what this project would be or where it was going except I knew that I wanted to use black and kraft with a little white thrown in for good measure. I love that combination. I had purchased these fabulous #8 black tags with my last eP order and I love them, That became the base for the entire tag. I added a little stencilling with white gesso through the TCW Halftone borders stencil and lined the outside with White Big Brush pen.

The second layer was cut by hand to be slightly smaller and definitely shorter than the base tag.  Wendy Vecchi's Vintage Mesh background stamp was inked with both Sepia and Coffee Archival inks and applied to the kraft tag. More Coffee ink was sponged onto the edges before doodling was added with a black pen. White gesso was pounced through TCW's Well Rounded stencil. A postage border was cut from a scrap of kraft, inked with Coffee Archival, faux stitched, and added to the original layer.

The third layer was cut slightly smaller than the previous layer out of black cardstock. Drywall mesh was added to the black tag for awesome texture and contrast. White gesso was again pounced through TCW's Well Rounded stencil.

The fourth and top layer, which was again kraft, was first stamped with a Stampendous tag stamp using Coffee Archival ink. The tag was cut out and then stencilled with gesso through another of the Well Rounded patterns. That stencil is so versatile that I use it all the time. The piano keys were from the internet and were found in my collage heap. They were adhered to the bottom edge of the tag.

A little boy image from a collage sheet by Lisa's Altered Art was fussy cut and adhered so that his feet were standing on the piano keys. He was doodled on with white gel pen, given flat black pearl buttons, and a punched heart. I outlined him first with Stabilo graphite pencil, then with Brown Madder Inktense pencil, and finally with black pen once the first two had been spread with a water brush.

Idea-ology Remnant Rubs words were added to the tag : Love Life and then heart and soul. Heart and Soul seemed like the perfect wording for above the piano keys since it's a song as well as fitting with Love Life. Black pen as well as white doodling plus three black pearls were added to the layer. A scrap of a die cut rolled flower was added to the base of the tag as a border and white circle rub ons from Christy Tomlinson were added to each petal.

The topper was created by threading beads onto paper wrapped wire and adhering the top and bottom beads with Glossy Accents. The two ends were wrapped near the tag with brown embroidery floss to keep them in place.

That's it for me today. I thoroughly enjoyed having a little play with my "stuff"...creating patterns and layers on the fly. Thanks for visiting. Oh, by the way, since the beads for the topper are wooden, this would qualify for the ePlay challenge, Wood. See how easy it is to play along? Come join the fun.
