There's No Place Like It ~ an altered canvas
Hello ePers! It's Bonnie Irvine here to share another 4 x 4 x 1.5" altered canvas which I made to swap with a dear friend of mine. I started by painting the entire canvas with Golden's Titan Buff. Script paper from Authentique's Peaceful collection was cut into strips and inked on the lower edge with Pumice Stone Distress ink before being layered onto the canvas as house siding. Another patterned paper from the same collection was cut in a wider strip and adhered to the top to mark the upper story of the house. Stencilling was done across this layer with a Tim Holtz Measured Layering stencil and Pumice Stone.
The masonite windows were coloured with Black Big Brush pen and adhered over Mary Engelbreit images from a collection of designer paper I've had forever. More Authentique scraps were used to fill in behind the images. The door is actually a chipboard greeting label covered in Authentique paper which was stamped with Pumice Stone ink and a crackled stamp. A door plate, half pearls and another window were added to the door before it was adhered to the house. A metal oval saying "Cherish" was glued with Glossy Accents above the door. The metal butterfly was also from my stash and Glossy Accents did the trick with it as well.
The top and bottom of the house had Pumice Stone Distress ink applied through TCW's Mini Punchinella stencil. The center from an old scotch tape roll was used as a stamp to make the double rings. White gesso spread with my finger knocked the pattern back here and there for some variety.
The sides show a continuation of the paper strips from the front as well as metal corner pieces from my stash. I think they came from the framing department of a big box store. The windows show the home owner's green thumb...lovely Mary Engelbreit plants in pots.
More Pumice Stone Distress ink was used to darken the edges of the canvas as well as stencil through Dylusions Letter Jumble stencil. The word HOME was added to the front in the form of letter stickers edged with black Big Brush pen and a little faux stitching completed the piece.
Thanks for visiting my home today...lol. I hope you find time to play a little and get inky-messy very soon.
