Marjie here, back with another art journaling page using one of my favorite words... Imagine! That's one of Donna Downey's 4" long word stamps from her Inspired Words set... the perfect size for art journaling. My page started out with paint and inks:
The Chevron Arrows stencil is one of my favorites. I used black soot distress ink through it. The music you see on my Xyron backing sheet is fabric I touched up with Peacock Feathers Distress Ink. Next to Broken China, that's my favorite blue of all time. Next I stamped the word 'Imagine' with Ranger's Pitch Black acrylic paint dabber.
At this stage I used Wendy Vecchi's layered flower stencil with her Studio 490 Black Embossing paste. It was my first time using either of these and it sure won't be the last.
I don't know if you can see how raised and firm the ridges are on the flowers, but the texture is really something else. I love it! There's another way to use that stencil, too, because the gaps overlap... so you can do one thing on the wider one, and then place the stencil on top and do something else in the other openings. Sounds intriguing, right? I have some ideas for this one...
I drew some stems and leaves with india ink but had a little mishap on my leaves, so I colored some dictionary pages with Faber Castell Gelatos and covered up my smudges. The color goes on so fast and easily with the Gelatos. I rolled parts of the Christy Tomlinson script stamp to fill some gaps.
I used Gel Medium to adhere the book paper leaves as well as my little punched starbursts. No real rhyme or reason on them, I just thought they'd play nicely with those rich black flowers, and the Gel Medium is fab because it dries matte with no shine.
Have a great day!
