Key To My Heart

Hi there!  It's Erin Smetak, and today I would like to share with you a journal entry that I created for February!  This is out of my comfort zone, which is why I love it so much!  I have been enamored with Donna Downey and Dina Wakely's works, I decided to try my hand at painting.
I thought I would create a journal page, since I've neglected my art journal for quite some time!

I started out drawing a heart w/ charcoal.  Then, I went crazy w/ accrylic paints!  I painted all around the heart, and then inside.  Once I painted the inside of the heart, I drew the chains, then painted the large one with accrylic paint, and painted the small one with Smooch Frost.  I covered the heart w/ Rock Candy Distress Crackle Paint and let it harden.  I painted over the Mini Harlequin Template w/ Titanium White Accrylic Paint.  Then, I stamped one of the font stamps from W Plus 9 Designs: Defining Words in different areas of the page.

I painted white again in the top right corner, and added a rub on, and some resin locks and keys.

I used Tim Holtz's Lock and Key from Mini Blueprints #3.  I sprayed them silver and gold spray, respectively.  The lock is on the heart, and then key is part of my handwritten script, "You are the (key) to my heart."

A beaded necklace cut to size, and banners from Bags of Bunting by Dylusions by Ranger.  I covered them in Rock Candy Crackle Paint as well for detail.

Thank you for visiting today!  My goal in creating this journal entry is to try something new that's out of your realm of creativity.  Are you up for the challenge?!
Have a wonderful day!
Erin
