Welcome to eclectic Paperie’s Get Altered Challenge! The Get Altered Challenge is held on the
first Thursday of each month and each challenge is an opportunity for you to be
inspired by one of our eTeam’s creations, and to be entered into our challenge prize drawing! Tracy Easson here as your host and I`ve chosen the theme Altered Books.
The Get Altered Challenge is about exploring your creative
journey, about stepping outside of your comfort zone, experimenting with new
products, and creating altered and mixed media art. Share a unique card, a scrapbook or journal
page, a canvas, or any other project where you’ve used any supplies, such as paint,
ink, paper, and/or embellishments. We
want to see your work and hear about your inspiration!
All of those who play along with our challenge will be entered into a prize drawing for a $15.00 gift certificate to the eclectic Paperie store.
You can use old books like I have, or one that you made yourself using any medium of your choosing. . . let your imagination go wild . . . mine is already wild, lol . . . I am also working on popping together a little rickety house complete with windows, door and a chimney all from old unloved books, more to follow on that at a later date.
I wanted to step . . . make that jump . . . out of my very cozy comfort zone for this challenge and pulled together some stash from the eclectic Paperie store to set me on my way.

My Donna Downey Pan Pastels mixed media kit 1 arrived just the other day . . . woohooo . . .so in typical Tracy fashion I changed my project at the very last minute . . . I am a complete novice with Pan Pastels so please bear that in mind. The Pastels came with a link to a tutorial from Donna and it was "AMAZING", so with a deep breath I grabbed up the Pastels and Dylusions Oh Christmas Tree Stencil and made myself a big red heart!
Out of a tree stencil I hear you cry . . . yep it is the perfect shape, just turn it upside down
and then flip it over to make the other half.
In between each colour I lightly sprayed some fixative. After a few layers I ended up with this . . .
and repeated again for the back cover . . . I used my heat tool to make it look more aged.
Time for a little stamping with Wendy Vecchi Studio 490 -Art on Her Mind set.
Hmmm, I wanted more dimension and stamped It Was All In Her Head again onto card, cut up and set to one side to add later after adding Tim Holtz Crackle paint in Rock Candy . . . Did I tell you just how much I love this stuff? Noooo, it makes my heart sing to use it.
Back view . . . It`s a really touchy feely little altered book.
After finishing the front and back I took more book pages, crumpled each one up to add texture before adding someTim Holtz Distress Stain in Walnur, spritzing with water and drying with a heat tool, nice crispy paper.

To hold it all together what better way than punching holes with a Crop-O-Dile and fastening it all together with a Tim Holtz Idea-ology Clock Fastener, that way I can take pages out to work on whenever or add more as needed.
What kind of altered book is it? Why a Creative Idea book seeing as they are all in my head, lol.
Quick peek inside at some ideas that whirl around inside my head . . .
The page on the right is a page from Creative Ideas Altered book and on the left my idea came to life on yet another little old book.

One that is a work in progress . . . fairy book house.
I would love to show you more but then it would spoil the surprises that I have to share with you all on here over the next few months.
