Friendship Matchbox

Hello and happy Friday everyone. Annette Green here with my creation using a Graphic 45 matchbox to make a birthday gift for a friend of mine who is turning 50.

Here's what the mini matchbox looks like unfinished...

Here's what I created...

This little tag mini album fits nicely inside the box.

Here's how it came together...

Using Lettuce paint dabber and a sponge brush, I thinly painted the box and the drawer's outer edges.

From black cardstock and papers from KaiserCrafts's "Pickled Pear" line, I cut several sizes of labels from Spellbinders' Labels Four and Labels Four Small dies.

I layered them up after inking the edges with Black Soot. This piece is to go on the top of the box so you can see through the opening in the box.

I discovered I needed another layer so you couldn't see the edges of the box's opening, so I cut one more small label in the center of this paper and layered it underneath.

Better!

I cut some plastic from a Sizzix package and ran it through my Vagabond machine with a texture plate, then laid some color over it using alcohol ink on a felt tool. This will serve as a window to see through the opening of the top of the box.

Like this.

Then I dressed up the top with some embellishment.

I didn't photograph it, but I used my Chocolate Gelato and a wet finger to smear some distressing over the green paint on the box. Here, I added some wooden feet (painted black) and a drawer pull with the word Friendship inside.

In the pad of "Pickled Pear" papers are four sheets of these great die-cuts. From borders to tags to inspirational quotes. Perfect for pulling together a nice mini album for the box.

I cut these Ranger tags down 1/4 inch to measure 4 1/2 inches so I could add a book ring and still get it to fit inside the box. These are the eight tags using many of the die-cuts and papers, with just a bit of additional stamping here and there.

It fits perfectly inside.

Materials list is below and will link you directly to the eP Store. I hope you get yourself one of these little matchboxes and make something beautiful for someone special too.
